The head bartender of Bulgari Bar Dubai will be serving Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin cocktails at The Royal Senses Resort & Spa in Crete this month.

The Royal Senses Resort & Spa will host Bulgari Bar’s head bartender for one night in July

For one night only, Mataroa Gin, supported by Siganos Wine & Spirits, will host bartender Antonino Donato at the Hilton-owned hotel in Crete, Greece.

The takeover, which is part of Mataroa’s Mediterranean Nights series, will take place on 26 July from 8:30pm local time.

Mataroa has previously partnered with Athens-based bar Baba Au Rum to host L’Antiquario Bar, based in Napoli, Italy, as part of a guest shift series.

The Greek brand also teamed up with bartender Marcos Chorattides, of Last Word Bar in Cyprus, and Hyacinthe Lescoët, of The Cambridge Public House, to create signature cocktails.

Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin (Mataroa MDG) launched in March 2019.

In March this year, the brand revealed it was eyeing international growth, and was ready to increase its global availability beyond its 17 existing markets.

Mataroa MDG claims to be the number-one-selling Greek premium gin brand in Greece.

It is created at the Melissanidi Distillery in northern Greece, a centennial family business with great tradition in producing ‘delicious spirits with strong character and unique taste’.

We included some recipes that utilise Mataroa MDG in our June round-up of cocktails to make at home.

Last year, the brand partnered with local airline Aegean to host 10 bars at its airport lounges. The bars curated recipes for cocktails using Mataroa MDG that travellers were able to enjoy before boarding their flight.

In other gin news, SB recently spoke to Bridesmaids director Paul Feig about how he created his brand, Artingstall’s Gin, with an American palate in mind.

The world’s best-selling gin brands were also revealed, according to the 2023 Brand Champions report.
