Ballantine’s adds to Artists Series
Scotch whisky brand Ballantine’s has expanded its Artists Series with new iterations of its 17- and 21-year-old blends.
Ballantine’s partnered with Korean artist Noh Sangho to produce the redesigned 17- and 21-year-old.
The Artist Series, now in its third edition release, is centred around the concept ‘time well spent’, highlighting ‘moments that truly matter’.
Liya Zhang, vice-president of marketing at Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail (GTR), said: “The label and packaging which have been designed by Noh Sangho for the 21 Year Old blend perfectly align with the brand’s rich heritage and commitment to expert quality, and is a fantastic example of two fine arts, whisky and painting, blending together to create something unique and beautiful.”
As part of the partnership, Sangho has produced two bespoke paintings, called The Great Chapbook – Time Well Spent, which both encapsulate groups of people creating moments that matter combined with the brand’s ethos.
Each painting features either the 21YO or 17YO.
Zhang added: “We’re excited to launch the new limited edition 21 Year Old blend exclusively for travellers and whisky enthusiasts in GTR, as it’s the perfect bottle for both collectors and gifting occasions.”
Both bottlings were originally crafted by Ballantine’s master blender Sandy Hyslop.
Sangho commented: “When Ballantine’s introduced me to its ‘Time Well Spent’ ethos, it was a concept that deeply resonated with me and reminded me of many happy memories enjoying time with my loved ones.
“I painted people doing things that they love and expressed the deepening of time whilst enjoying each other’s company, using different colours and accents. This correlates with my creative process; drawing objects, moments and people that I have encountered every day for the past 10 years.”
The 21 Year Old Artist Edition is now available exclusively in GTR across the East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania (APAC) region. It retails for RRP US$144. The 17 Year Old Artist Edition blend is available exclusively in Korea.
Ballantine’s recently created a new series of 40-year-old expressions to celebrate the brand’s master blenders.
Ballantine’s is owned by Pernod Ricard. In May, the drinks giant appointed Jean Touboul as the new managing director for its Indian arm.
