Australian coffee liqueur brand Mr Black has collaborated with Bundaberg rum to launch a limited edition coconut-flavoured bottling.

Mr Black Coconuts, Rum and Coffee Liqueur is the second collaboration with the Australian rum brand. Last year the producers joined forces to create a limited edition rum barrel-aged coffee liqueur, which saw Mr Black’s signature coffee-based spirit rested for three months in European and American Oak casks that previously contained Bundaberg’s flagship rums.

Mr Black founder Tom Baker commented: “Our last three releases have been real spirits-nerd stuff. Lots of oak, barrel ageing; serious nose-in-the-glass products. This is the opposite – it’s tropical fun in a bottle.

“Chill it, sip it, mix it with coke, or shake up an Espresso Martini. It’s delicious no matter how you drink it.”

Mr Black Coconuts, Rum and Coffee Liqueur combines Mr Black’s signature cold brew Arabica coffee liqueur with Bundaberg Small Batch Reserve rum and coconuts.

Baker continued: “We’ve really upped the rum in this year’s edition. Between the coconuts and coffee there’s a lot of flavours competing for your attention, yet it’s still incredibly well balanced.”

The release is said to offer sweet aromas of roasted coconuts, vanilla, caramel, orange marmalade, and nutmeg, complemented by flavours of rich coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, oak spice, marmalade, butterscotch and coconut throughout.

It is recommended served in an Espresso Martini, using 30ml measures of Mr Black Coconuts, Rum & Coffee Liqueur, rum, and espresso; or in a Coco Cola, using 30ml Mr Black Coconuts, Rum & Coffee Liqueur and 30ml rum, topped with cola.

While Mr Black Coconuts, Rum and Coffee Liqueur will officially launch in the UK on 3 May for RRP £35 (US$43.63), it is available to purchase via The Whisky Exchange now.

In September last year, Diageo acquired Mr Black liqueur for an undisclosed sum.
