Desolas Mezcal partners with Tap 42
Mezcal brand Desolas has created two cocktails that will be served at Florida-based bar and restaurant chain Tap 42.
Desolas Mezcal was launched in 2020 by GG Mirvis, who has spent more than a decade working in the spirits industry and developed a passion for mezcal.
The two cocktails, Maui Wowie Margarita and Frozen Mango Margarita, will be available across all nine Tap 42 Craft Kitchen and Bar locations in South Florida.
The Maui Wowie Margarita blends pineapple, lime, ginger and orange notes with Desolas Mezcal.
Meanwhile, the Frozen Mango Margarita is described as a ‘refreshing twist’ on the classic Margarita.
Mirvis, CEO of Desolas, said: “Tap 42 is highly regarded for its handcrafted beverage programme and the new cocktails will make for the perfect, refreshing addition.”
Desolas is made using Salmiana agave grown in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
The piñas are cooked in above-ground ovens known as ‘hornos’, instead of an underground pit, leading to an ‘agave-forward’ mezcal with ‘lower smoke’ levels.
“Desolas is unlike any other mezcal I’ve ever tasted before with its unique and complex flavour,” said Alex Rudolph, partner and vice-president of development at Tap 42.
“Mezcal has become increasingly popular, and we anticipate the new cocktails to become an instant crowd favourite.”
The brand recently expanded distribution in the US to include New York, Florida and Georgia.
Desolas Mezcal is served in all Tap 42 locations, as well as venues in New York and Florida.
The brand can be purchased online for nationwide shipping and can be found at select retailers across New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas and California.
