The brand will continue to sponsor the crime writing competitions for the next three years

Glencairn has committed to sponsoring Scottish Crime Book of the Year, known as The McIlvanney Prize, and the Bloody Scotland Debut Crime Novel of the Year for the next three years.

The glassware producer will continue to create the trophy for winners of The McIlvanney Prize, as well as fill the role of official sponsor of both prizes.

Kirsty Nicholson, the glassware brand’s design and marketing manager, said: “We are delighted to extend our sponsorship of such prestigious writing prizes. Like Scottish crime writing, the Glencairn Glass is a truly global phenomenon and we look forward to working with Bloody Scotland in celebrating great crime novels.”

The prizes will be awarded at the Bloody Scotland international crime writing festival, which takes place from 15 to 18 September 2023 in Stirling, Scotland.

Bob McDevitt, director of the Bloody Scotland festival, said: “We are so pleased that Glencairn Glass has extended its sponsorship of our prizes, helping us to celebrate new and established voices in Scottish crime writing.”

The McIlvanney Prize includes a £1,000 (US$1,210) prize, a Glencairn Glass trophy and nationwide promotion in bookstore Waterstones.

The Bloody Scotland Debut Crime Novel of the Year winner will receive £500 (US$605.48) and a Glencairn Star trophy.

Last year, the glass manufacturer offered premium glass bottles to spirits producers in response to the packaging shortage.
