Healthy Hospo unveils Dry January events

Non-profit Healthy Hospo has launched Mindful Hub, a trio of events taking place this month to support hospitality professionals during Dry January and beyond.

The events have been organised across January 2023

The Mindful Hub has been created in collaboration with industry experts and brands, and focuses on how to improve drinking habits throughout 2023.

Jason-Candid Knüsel, director of Healthy Hospo, said: “The Mindful Hub is a safe space for hospitality professionals. It reflects what we believe is one of the biggest stigmas in our industry – alcohol misuse.

“By ensuring we have a good relationship with alcohol, we can maintain our health and professionalism of the industry in the long term.

“We believe important discussions are necessary to raise awareness, educate, and build a healthier community.”

Healthy Hospo has partnered with non-alcoholic drinks brands Everleaf, Real Drinks and Medahuman to bring together hospitality staff including front liners, back-of-house, and management for a panel discussion and socialising at Zetter Townhouse in Marylebone, London.

The events take place from 1pm-5pm GMT on 23 January and 30 January.

The first event took place on 16 January.

“We all know that hospitality is a profession that puts great physical and mental stress on its staff,” commented Chris Losh, director of the World Alcohol-Free Awards.

“Learning how to control alcohol, rather than having it control you, is a key part of combating that.

“We’re sure that a better appreciation and understanding of all the great alcohol-free drinks that are out there now can really help Healthy Hospo in their mission, and we are absolutely delighted to team up with them over the next year and work together where we can.”

Last year, Healthy Hospo partnered with Indian gin brand Stranger & Sons to launch an educational platform for hospitality workers.
