Drinks Distilled launches in UK
New spirits and barware-focused e-commerce site Drinks Distilled has launched to ‘simplify the experience’ of purchasing spirits, and offer a personalised approach to the drinks gifting sector.
Founder Nicola Jones has launched the site today (4 October) with the aim of ‘taking the stuffiness out of understanding alcoholic and no-and-low spirits’, and to make the selection and gifting process more personalised and ‘less overwhelming’.
Jones said: “With hundreds of spirit brands launching each year, our hope is that Drinks Distilled will help to simplify the world of alcoholic and no-and-low spirits, barware and drinkware, by making the process of learning how to pick them fun and accessible.”
Inspired by the in-bar experience of being able to ask a bartender for recommendations, Drinks Distilled has enlisted the help of fourteen bartenders, bar owners, drinks writers, bloggers, judges and consultants, known as spirit guides, who have been tasked with curating spirits categories spanning whisky, gin, vodka, rum, mezcal, Tequila, and no-and-low-ABV ‘spirits’.
This line up will continue to evolve, however only three examples per style will eventually be incorporated into each spirit category in order to keep the experience streamlined for consumers.
The site has incorporated an interactive Q&A Spirits Compass tool that aims to matchmake spirit lovers or their loved ones with personalised spirit, drinkware and barware suggestions in less than a minute, with a series of taste-based questions.
In addition, the Gift Box Builder tool, which is available within each category page, is designed to help customers create handpicked, personalised gift sets that can contain between two and three items. These come complete with an eco-friendly Drinks Distilled branded box and complimentary gift note, alongside the tasting and recipe card sent out with every bottle.
“We’ve all had those ‘rabbit in the headlights’ and doom-scroll moments whilst shopping for spirits, or that last minute scramble to put together the perfect gift for the drinks lovers in our lives,” Jones added. “With the help of insights shared by our incredible line up of spirits guides, and our Spirits Compass and Box Builder tools, our aim is to empower consumers, so they never feel like they can’t make an informed decision again.”
Prices on www.drinksdistilled.co.uk start from £19 (US$21.58) for spirits, £8.99 (US$10.21) for barware and drinkware, and £35 (US$39.75) to create a handpicked gift set.
The website is currently offering a 10% discount for anyone that signs up to the mailing list throughout October. The first 50 gift set orders will also receive a free cocktail spoon.
In May there were calls for stronger age verification measures on alcohol e-commerce sites.
