Metaxa unveils limited edition bottle

Greek spirit Metaxa has debuted a limited edition Grecian-inspired bottle called Grande Fine.

The bottle has been developed with Rocks’ distinctive style using Greek symbols and folklore

Released as a tribute to Greece’s heritage, traditions, craftsmanship and ‘inspirational way of living’, the bottle was designed by Greek artist Cacao Rocks.

The bottle took inspiration from Rocks’ French grandfather, who travelled to Greece before World War II and fell in love with its culture and traditions.

The white porcelain decanter is decorated with Cycladic symbols and patterns inspired by the windmills of Mykonos. The white represents the Cycladic architecture, while the blue represents the Aegean Sea, and the gold pays homage to the Greek sun.

Rocks noted: “I had the honour to be asked by the House of Metaxa to design one of their iconic decanters. Inspired by my grandfather, I wanted to follow his path, visit the Cyclades again and take pictures of their iconic landscapes.

“This is how I created the new Metaxa Grande Fine design, my own interpretation of Cycladic architecture, a tribute to my grandfather.”

The Metaxa Grande Fine liquid is made using aromatic muscat wines, and offers notes of oak, dried plums and white raisin on the nose, while on the palate the liquid is said to be ‘full bodied and refined’ with notes of dried fruits, nutmeg, oak and honey.

The finish is mellow and sustained with honeyed fruits and a touch of spice. It is recommended enjoyed neat or over ice.

The limited edition bottle will be available to purchase exclusively at Harvey Nichols from winter 2022 for an RRP of £60 (US$68).

Metaxa Private Reserve was awarded a Silver medal in The Brandy Masters 2022.
