El Bandarra creates UK charity campaign
Barcelona-based aperitivo brand El Bandarra has marked the launch of its Grannies Know Best campaign with a limited edition Nan-groni cocktail kit.
The launch had been timed to coincide with Negroni Week (12-18 September), which in the wake of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, has been postponed in the UK by Campari Group.
Despite this, El Bandarra has made the decision to continue with the launch of the cocktail as the aim is to raise money for isolated older people during the winter months.
UK marketing manager, Allison Renfrew, commented: “Following the very sad news last week, we carefully considered postponing the fundraiser. We made the decision to continue as the charity, Re-engage, supports and empowers older people in the UK. We felt this was important during this difficult time.”
El Bandarra’s Grannies Know Best campaign celebrates the Spanish tradition of Salir al fresco, which means ‘to grab a chair to sit outside and gossip with friends for hours’.
It aims to raise funds for Re-engage, a charity that provides vital, life-enhancing social connections for older people, via sales of its limited edition Nan-groni recipe kit.
The new recipe is a twist on the classic Negroni cocktail, and offers a ‘softer approach’ to the cocktail. It has been designed to showcase ‘Barcelona sunshine in a glass, Bandarra style’.
The bundle includes everything consumers need to create the cocktail at home: 500ml El Bandarra Al Fresco, 500ml El Bandarra Rojo and 500ml Portobello gin.
The limited edition Nan-groni bundle is now available to purchase via the El Bandarra website until December for an RRP of £34.95 (US$40.93).
The Nan-groni cocktail is also available to purchase at London Southbank’s Between the Bridges bar from 12-18 September.
All El Bandarra profits from sales of both the kit and the cocktail will go directly to Re-engage.
The fundraiser will continue through the upcoming London Cocktail Week, where the El Bandarra Granny Spritz Bar will be open at Eccleston Yards from 13-23 October.
Bars looking to get involved with El Bandarra’s Grannies Know Best fundraiser should contact their local representative.
