Hornitos launches music competition

Tequila brand Hornitos has teamed up with music discovery site Pigeons & Planes to launch an original song competition.

Musicians must be based in the US to enter

The Take Your Shot programme has been launched in partnership with online platform for up-and-coming artists Pigeons & Planes, offering musicians the chance to submit a song to be spotlighted on the site and receive one-on-one mentorship.

The collaboration aims to encourage original music entries that deliver individuality and storytelling that represents the contestant ‘as an artist and creative’.

Musicians must be 21 years and over to enter, and based in the US.

Judging is based on originality (30%), energy (30%) and authenticity (40%).

The winner will secure a trip to New York City to participate in an in-studio interview with Pigeons & Planes, plus an editorial feature on the platform.

Entries close tonight (15 August) at 11:59pm (ET).

Hornitos recently pledged US$135,000 to support non-profit organisation Glaad, the world’s biggest LGBTQ+ media advocacy organisation.

In 2021, the Beam Suntory-owned brand stepped into the hard seltzer category, with the launch of ready-to-drink canned seltzer line Hornitos. The line is available in two flavours, lime and mango, and both clock in at 5% ABV.
