The GSMC’s medals have been given a new modernised look

The rebrand was revealed during The Spirits Business and The Global Spirits Masters’ inaugural Summer Party this evening (15 June), held at 58 and Co in east London.

The party celebrated both the contest’s 15th anniversary and 150 editions of The Spirits Business magazine this August.

The brand refresh includes the addition of the word ‘competitions’ to the title of the series, which is now called The Global Spirits Masters Competitions (GSMC).

The new look and name were revealed to solidify the brand’s identity.

The name maintains links with unbiased judging, inclusive categories, holistic follow-up support and the relationship with The Spirits Business, but also allows for synonymity with spirits blind-tasting competitions across the globe.

The awarding body also sought to create eye-catching medals to encourage medal winners to be proud of their achievements and showcase them across bottles and marketing.

The GSMC awards products with Silver (70-79 points) and Gold (80-89 points) medals, with truly outstanding spirits being awarded Master (90-100 points).

Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business, said: “Seeing the slick new medals for The Global Spirits Masters Competitions is incredibly exciting; beautiful, modern designs that are fitting for the quality liquids awarded such prestigious medals through our blind-tasting series.”

The redesigned medals will debut with the announcement of the results from The Gin Masters 2022 on 1 July 2022, which is set to be the series’ biggest competition on record.

Rhiannon Morris, sales and marketing manager, added: “We’re beyond excited to reveal the new medals in time to celebrate 15 years of The Global Spirits Masters Competitions.

“The aim of the competitions has always been to celebrate excellence in the spirits industry, so it’s been incredible to see the continued innovation and commitment to quality displayed in the medal-winning spirits entered into the competitions year on year.

“With this in mind, we feel the new, modernised medal designs reflect the outstanding quality of the Silver, Gold, and Master medal-winning spirits on the world stage today.”

Furthermore, The GSMC has revealed a new website to incorporate the rebrand. It also has been updated to provide a user-friendly interface for easy registration entry into the competitions.
