Glenfarclas competition opens to UK bartenders
By Nicola CarruthersHighland single malt Glenfarclas has opened entries for the third edition of its 105 Cask Strength Cocktail Competition in the UK.

The competition is launched annually on 15 April, which represents the 105th day of the calendar year.
Heats will be held in Belfast on 9 May, Glasgow on 16 May and London on 23 May.
Bartenders have the option to choose which location to attend and must submit their signature serve ideas in person, made using Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength Whisky.
According to the brand, Glenfarclas 105 offers a ‘complex oaky nose’ with hints of apple, pear and toffee sweetness. The palate brings a ‘rich spiciness’ with oak and Sherried fruit notes.
An expert panel will judge competitors on their knowledge and presentation skills, cocktail-making technique, ingredients used and drink appearance.
The judging panel will include last year’s competition winner, Daniel Jones, Kirsten MacDonald, Glenfarclas brand manager, and representatives from the whisky press.
Nine finalists will be selected to compete in the final in Glasgow, Scotland, on 13 June.
The winner will receive a two-day experience at the Glenfarclas distillery, including a series of activities only possible at the site, along with a limited edition bottle of Glenfarclas.
The 2022 winner will mark the third victor in the competition, following Bristol-based Jones and Kevin Carr from Glasgow.
Last year, we spoke to Jones about his dream to go from cocktail connoisseur to Scotch whisky master.
