Sydney Rum Distillery names new CEO
The Sydney Rum Distillery has appointed Steve Magarry as its new chief executive officer (CEO).
Magarry brings more than 20 years’ experience to the Sydney Rum Distillery.
He formerly worked as group distiller for Bickford’s Group, managing both Beenleigh Rum and 23rd Street Distillery in Australia.
In this position, he worked on showcasing the Beenleigh Rum and Inner Circle portfolios through distribution deals, collaborative partnerships and engaging more than 30 independent bottling launches.
David Ward, chairman of the Sydney Rum Distillery, said: “We are delighted to have Steve join us. His diverse experience positions him well to help drive the next growth phase of our business.
“Our vision to build globally admired rum brands, using Australian ingenuity to blend ‘best of breed’ international rums, plus producing premium Australian provenance rums via a sustainable ‘craft with scale’ distillery.
“Steve’s advocacy of Australian rum has resulted in a strong track record of delivering sustainable growth with a global perspective.”
Ward added how the company is entering a new phase of organic-and-acquisition growth. He said Magarry would be well equipped to provide the leadership needed to pursue the Sydney Rum Distillery’s ambitions.
