The partnership will focus Stauning’s growth across premium retail, trade footprint and e-commerce.

Keiran Cusker, head of sales, Stauning, said: “As we look to introduce our brand to a much wider audience in the UK, we are delighted to be working with Mangrove. We are confident in their impressive track record of success and look forward to a long-term partnership.”

The whisky is crafted using local grains, traditional techniques and direct-fired small pot stills. In 2018, the brand launched a state-of-the-art distillery, but resolved to continue its traditional methods of whisky production.

Nick Gillett, managing director at Mangrove UK, added: “Stauning is one of the most exciting and engaging whisky brands out there reflecting the personalities and beliefs of their founders.

“The distillery on the west coast of Denmark is one of the most interesting and innovative distilleries in existence. The founders are true innovators, it’s both inspiring and refreshing to see how they have grown their product offering while doing things on their own terms without compromise. We can’t wait to get to work, it’s a great pleasure to further grow Mangrove’s world whisky offering and welcome Stauning to our portfolio.”

Stauning’s portfolio comprises Kaos Whisky and Bastard Whisky, both special edition bottlings, plus Smoke Whisky, Rye Whisky, and El Clásico Whisky.

Earlier this week, Mangrove UK revealed it was expanding its sales team, with three new hires including a new head of luxury and independent retail.

In February this year, Stauning halted production to urge Canada and Denmark government to resolve a dispute from 1930, and called on distillers worldwide to follow suit.
