Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin partners with BA
Actor Ryan Reynolds has launched his Aviation American Gin brand on British Airways (BA) flights.
Reynolds invested in Aviation in 2018, an Oregon-made gin acquired by Diageo last summer. The liquid will be available to order pre-flight through BA’s Speedbird Café. The café allows passengers to order food and drinks before takeoff.
Tom Stevens, BA director of brand and customer experience, said: “Offering our customers a premium experience throughout their journey is important to us. Partnering with Aviation American Gin is another great addition to our onboard service.”
The 50ml iteration of the gin retails for £6 (US$7.91) from Speedbird Café.
Stevens added: “We hope our customers join us in celebrating, with a refreshing gin and tonic.”
The gin will also be available to buy from BA’s US and UK lounges, and to purchase from the in-flight shop High Life.
In October 2021, the brand teamed up with Reynolds’ wife, actor Blake Lively, to launch a cocktail menu containing Aviation Gin and Betty Buzz mixers at the British Airways John F Kennedy International Airport Lounge, in New York City, US.
Gareth Williams, international brand director at Aviation American Gin, said: “We’re so excited to get on board with the UK flag carrier British Airways, and take Aviation American Gin to new heights – the sky.
“Through this partnership, we’re keen to enhance each traveller’s experience with a deliciously refreshing Aviation Gin cocktail for flyers to enjoy on journeys near and far, offering an American twist on this quintessentially British drink.”
The bottling contains notes of juniper, citrus and floral. It was crafted with botanicals cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peel.
The partnership with BA isn’t the brand’s first venture in the air: in 2018, Reynolds teamed up with billionaire businessman Sir Richard Branson to serve Aviation American Gin onboard Virgin Atlantic flights.
To mark the partnership with BA, Reynolds created an airline spoof safety video. Click below to watch the spot.
