The new Lark Pontville Distillery will open on Friday 25 March

Lark Pontville Distillery in Tasmania is set in a building that dates back to the 1800s, situated just half an hour north of Hobart.

Visitors will be able to tour the distillery and cooperage, with tours scheduled to run daily, priced at AU$99 (US$79) per person. Guests must book their tours in advance.

The ‘Fuse’ whisky experience will give whisky fans and novices the chance to create their own blended bottle of Tasmanian malt whisky. A Lark whisky specialist will guide the blending session, using whisky drawn from Lark’s bond stores. Available by appointment only, the experience will cost AU$499 (US$373) per person.

Dan Knight, head of hospitality at Lark Distilling Co, said: “This year has been huge in celebrating 30 years of not only Lark, but in supporting the whole Tasmanian whisky industry, which provides some of the best whisky in the world.

“We’re very proud of this role Lark has played in shaping this industry, and excited that Pontville will represent a new experience unlike any other in the Apple Isle.

“Whether you’re a seasoned expert or newly curious, this incredible space will be the perfect jumping-off point for your exploration into local whisky.”

Bill Lark founded Lark Distilling in 1992. The company’s portfolio is led by its single malt whiskies, including Classic Cask (43% ABV) and Cask Strength (58% ABV), as well as a selection of Forty Spotted Gins.

Lark Distilling is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, earlier this month the producer released a rare single malt whisky.

The producer also unveiled The Still, a whisky complex comprising a bar, tasting room and shop, in September last year.
