Prowein 2022 to host 5,500 exhibitors
By Kate MalczewskiInternational trade fair Prowein has revealed the layout of its 2022 show, which is expected to welcome around 5,500 exhibitors.
The annual wine and spirits event, held in Düsseldorf, Germany, was cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic.
However, the show is due to go ahead in person next year, set for 27-29 March 2022.
“We are getting very positive feedback from both our exhibitors and visitors around the globe. After the two-year, pandemic-induced break the sector is yearning for personal encounters, networking, tasting and, of course, ordering,” said Bastian Mingers, project director of Prowein.
The show will feature a variety of diverse wine and spirits ranges. International market leaders will be present, as well as importers, exporters, commercial agencies and vintners.
Exhibitors will be spread across 13 halls in order to ensure compliance with social distancing measures. Spirits will live in hall 11. Halls 15-17 will be dedicated to Italy, with all of the country’s regions represented. Meanwhile, halls 9-11 will be designated for French winemakers, and the area will also house a Champagne Lounge with about 200 producers.
Halls 1, 4 and 5 will feature around 800 German producers. Organic brands and organisations will also set up in this area; 45 vintners from Greece, France and Spain have registered for Prowein’s special ‘Organic World’ show.
Austrian wine will also make its home in hall 5; Portugal will be in hall 13; and Spain will cover halls 13 and 14. Hall 12 will lodge overseas producers, including the Wine Institute of California, Wines of Chile and Wines of Argentina.
Finally, hall 7 will boast the fair’s trend show, with the theme ‘same but different’ set for 2022. The trend show will feature nearly 120 exhibitors, with producers of gin, mezcal, whisky and rum all present.
Tickets for Prowein 2022 will become available in mid-December.
