Slingsby Gin expands RTD range

Yorkshire-based Slingsby Gin has added three expressions to its canned ready-to-drink (RTD) line.

The latest additions to the Slingsby Solo range are: Slingsby Gooseberry Gin and Mediterranean tonic, Slingsby Blackberry Gin and Mediterranean tonic, and Slingsby London Dry and premium tonic water.

The range already comprises: Slingsby Rhubarb Gin and elderflower tonic, Slingsby Rhubarb Gin and ginger ale, and Slingsby Marmalade Gin and Mediterranean tonic.

The new products were launched last week to coincide with the brand’s sixth birthday on 4 August.

The producer unveiled new packaging for its RTD Solo series this year, moving from glass bottles to a can format. The brand also launched a canned Spritz range this year.

Marcus Black, co-founder of Slingsby producer Spirit of Harrogate, said: “With sport and events playing an integral role in our brand’s DNA, we timed the next step in the range’s development by extending it from three flavours to six in line with our sponsorship of the BMW PGA Championship this year.

“This means we can take our core range of flavours, including London Dry and gooseberry, on the road to events with ease of serve and limited touch points.”

Black noted that the pandemic has boosted the RTD category as more consumers spent time outside.

He continued: “Weekend walks and socially distanced picnics, followed by outdoor gatherings in general this summer all provided opportunities for the RTD category to grow.

“Individual canned drinks have facilitated an easy and ideal way for consumers to enjoy a drink with friends and family without sharing bottles and mixers and with minimal touchpoints.”

Each 250ml can has an ABV of 6%, and is available to buy as a mixed trio pack for RRP £7.50 (US$10.40) or in a set of 12 alongside the other flavours for RRP £30 (US$42).
