TFWA’s Cannes event welcomes growing attendanceBy Alice Brooker
The Tax Free World Association (TFWA) is seeing increasing industry support for its Cannes show, with more than 200 brands participating.
The TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will be held from 24-28 October 2021 at the Palais des Festivals convention centre, with a ‘growing number of brands and retailers’ signing up.
This year’s event is the first in-person conference to take place since 2019, with last year’s show cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
TFWA president Jaya Singh said: “As we get closer to TFWA World Exhibition & Conference, I’m once again amazed and humbled at the response from the entire duty free and travel retail industry in coming together to support this important event.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who are supporting the event.
“Your attendance will further strengthen an already stellar line-up of brands, buyers and retailers joining us in Cannes.”
Included in the line up of companies at the venue are Bacardi and Brown-Forman, with Lagardère Travel Retail, Stock Spirits Group and Starboard Cruise Services being the latest names to sign up.
Participants will have the opportunity to see some of the industry’s latest brand innovations and product launches.
Lucio Rossetto, chief business officer of Lagardère Travel Retail, said: “The TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes represents the first flagship event for the industry to regroup in a physical setting.
“It really is a pivotal moment for us all, as nothing can ever match the connections you can make face to face.”
In anticipation of ensuring medical safety of attendees, TFWA has confirmed that local hotels, restaurants and transport links will be ‘adhering to the most stringent hygiene measures’, and the venue will be offering a 24-hour medical concierge service, with a team of doctors and consultants.
Rossetto added: “We very much look forward to being part of the event, catching up with partners and peers and most importantly to discuss the ways we can collectively prepare for the recovery and better serve our customers.”
The Cannes edition of the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will be live streamed online at tfwa365.com.
Last month, TFWA revealed it is ‘optimistic’ about the future of global travel retail following its virtual Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition event.
