Tales of the Cocktail 2021 heads online

The annual Tales of the Cocktail conference will take place virtually in September, with hopes of returning to an in-person event in 2022.

Tales of the Cocktail 2021 will run online from 20 to 23 September

The New Orleans festival was forced online in 2020 for the first time as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. For this year’s event, Tales of the Cocktail (TOTC) will take place virtually once again, running from 20 to 23 September.

The event has been push backed from its usual July date, which the TOTC Foundation said was done ‘with the knowledge that early 2021 will continue to be a crucial time for establishments to focus on recovery efforts’.

The 2021 theme for Tales will be Community, to underscore its aim of bringing the global drinks industry together to share knowledge and compassion.

Caroline Rosen, president of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, said: “As New Orleanians, we know resilience when we see it. There’s no doubt that the spirits industry had the tenacity and the grit to make it through 2020.

“Now, as we look ahead to 2021, it’s time to focus on the goal of true advancement of not only our craft but our industry’s culture and how we rise together.”

Operating in a digital format to prioritise the health and safety of attendees, seminars and workshops taking place as part of this year’s event will be free to attend. Events will aim to offer the educational, cultural and lifestyle programming that TOTC has become known for.

While the festival will largely be digital in September, the Foundation said it was ‘still leaving the door open’ for local activations in global markets if they are safe for attendees.

The Foundation is now welcoming applications to host seminars and workshops during this year’s festival. Those interested in applying to host a seminar can do so by visiting talesofthecocktail.org/initiatives/seminars.
