Templeton Rye unveils 2020 Barrel Strength whiskey

American producer Templeton Rye has launched the 2020 version of its Barrel Strength straight rye whiskey, the third limited edition release in the series.

Templeton Rye Barrel Strength straight rye whiskey is available now in the US in limited quantities

The Iowa distillery first released a Barrel Strength whiskey in 2018, followed by another expression in 2019.

Distillery manager Lester Brown selected the barrels to be married together to create the 2020 release. The mash bill for this year’s whiskey comprises 95% rye and 5% malted barley.

It has been bottled without chill filtration at 56.55% ABV.

Tasting notes include apple aromas, warm cinnamon and orange notes, leading to raisin-infused toffee flavours, rye spice and a “long, robust” finish.

Tim Grimes, senior brand ambassador of Templeton Rye, said: “We continue to be motivated and inspired by the wonderful reception of the past two Barrel Strength releases and are excited to introduce this new edition with our fans that we feel is both innovative and evolved.

“Our Barrel Strength line represents the purest form of our beloved whiskey, a salute to our hometown of Templeton, Iowa, a small town with a strong spirit.”

The 2020 Templeton Rye Barrel Strength straight rye whiskey is available now in the US at an RRP of US$59.99 per 750ml bottle.

In August last year, Templeton Rye expanded its international footprint by signing a distribution deal with Kollaras and Co in Australia.
