Sauvage Beverages buys Kymar Farm Distillery

New York-based farm distillery and winery Sauvage Beverages has acquired Kymar Farm Distillery for an undisclosed sum with plans to focus more on spirits production.

Kymar Farm Distillery is a 20-acre agricultural property with a 22,000 sq ft distilling facility.

Sauvage Beverages produces apple-based vodka and currently operates from a 4,000 sq ft Oneonta-based farm distillery and winery.

The expansion will be managed by Ken Wortz, owner of the Kymar Farm Distillery, who has been appointed head distiller at Sauvage Distillery. He will look after production and operations going forward, which will be focused on producing spirits such as vodka and brandy.

Wortz said: “I am really excited [about] being a head distiller at Sauvage. Together we produced award-winning products and this expansion will allow us to increase in the market and deliver quality products to more consumers.

“I look forward to continue to serve our community, promote award-winning products and promote New York state agriculture.”

When Sauvage was first established, it produced apple sparkling wines. It then moved into creating distilled spirits, launching apple-based Upstate Vodka.

In March, Sauvage Beverages and Kymar Farm Distillery collaborated on producing hand sanitiser for their local communities in New York as shortages took hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
