Gin Masters 2020 extends entry deadline

The entry deadline for The Gin Masters 2020 has been extended, with the blind tasting set to go ahead in accordance with social distancing measures.

The Gin Masters 2020 will go ahead in accordance with social distancing measures

Due to lockdown regulations in the UK as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the blind-tasting competition will not be able to go ahead in its regular format to ensure the safety of all judges and in compliance with government rules.

Instead, the tasting will take place at the homes of expert judges, under the same strict blind-tasting conditions as a regular competition. Samples will be packed and shipped to each judge’s home address, ensuring all entrants remain completely anonymous.

Each entrant will be assessed constructively and without bias by our professional judges, overseen by Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business magazine and chair of The Global Spirits Masters.

The entry deadline for The Gin Masters 2020 is 20 May and the sample deadline is 26 May.

Silver, Gold and Master medals will be awarded in each category, with entrants judged on appearance, aroma, palate and overall balance. The Master medallists will then be tasted once more to determine the Gin Taste Master 2020.

Last month, in response to the coronavirus crisis, The Spirits Business launched The Spirits Business’ Covid-19 Campaign to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and The Drinks Trust. For each entry into The Global Spirits Masters competition series during the pandemic, The Spirits Business will donate 5% of entry fees to the two charities to support those at risk and facing financial hardship amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
