Tomatin plans virtual whisky festival

Highland distillery Tomatin will host a virtual whisky festival this week after events around the world were forced to cancel due to the spread of covid-19.

Tomatin will host a virtual whisky festival on 4 April

The first Lockdown Whisky Festival will take place on Saturday 4 April and will be hosted by whisky influencer Aqvavitae. As part of the event, brand ambassadors from across the sector will showcase a range of whiskies.

Brands set to appear in the live-streamed festival include Adelphi, Arran, BenRiach, Cù Bòcan, GlenAllachie, Glencadam, Glen Moray, Kilkerran, Kilchoman, Paul John, Tomintoul and Tomatin.

Scott Adamson, global brand ambassador at Tomatin Distillery, said: “The greatest benefit to organising the Lockdown Whisky Festival is that it’s virtual, so we can bring the community together to enjoy and learn from some of the best distilleries in the industry, all from the comfort of home at a time when staying in and staying safe has never been more important.

“It’s exciting to be the first distillery to host a virtual whisky festival and we’re thankful for the other distilleries who have chosen to get involved and support it.”

Tomatin is encouraging viewers to use #LockdownWhiskyFestival across social media during the event.

Live-streamed on Tomatin’s YouTube channel,  the whisky festival will run from 2pm-5pm UK time on 4 April.

News of Tomatin’s virtual festival follows an announcement from the organisers of Melbourne-based Whiskey! The Show, which will host Australia’s “first” virtual whisky festival later this month.
