Spirit Master: Nordés Atlantic Galician Gin
Ahead of National Gin and Tonic Day on Thursday (9 April), we highlight a super-premium Spanish gin that scored one of the top awards during a blind-tasting.

Every week, SB celebrates some of the top-scoring Master medallists from The Global Spirits Masters blind-tasting competitions.
We scoured the results of our Gin Masters to find an expression that would be best suited for drinking during National Gin and Tonic Day on 9 April.
During The Gin Masters 2019 blind-tasting competition, Nordés Atlantic Galician Gin was one of two Master medallists in a flight of super-premium expressions.
The biggest competition in the Global Spirits Masters series, last year’s gin blind-tasting saw more than 300 expressions assessed by an expert panel.
The Master-winning Nordés Atlantic Galician Gin was praised for being “smooth, herbaceous and delicious”.
The gin is made with 11 botanicals, including six from Galicia: sage, laurel, verbena herb, eucalyptus, peppermint and glasswort. It also incorporates five botanicals from overseas: juniper, ginger, cardamom, hibiscus flower and black tea.
Nordés is the fastest-growing premium gin brand in Spain, according to Nielsen. Last year, the gin agreed a partnership with distribution agency Craftwork to grow its presence in the UK.
According to the brand, the gin’s perfect serve consists of 50ml of Nordés and 200ml of natural tonic water. It is then garnished with grapes to “reinforce the nuances of the Albariño wine distillate that is present in the gin”.
The 40% ABV gin is priced at £35.95 (US$45.18).
