MGP Ingredients joins hand sanitiser efforts

Third-party spirits producer MGP Ingredients has increased production at several of its US plants to meet demand for more industrial alcohol needed to make hand sanitiser.

MGP’s brands include George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Till American Wheat Vodka, Rossville Union Straight Rye Whiskey, Eight and Sand Blended Bourbon Whiskey and Green Hat Gin

MGP has “significantly” increased production at its facilities in Atchison, Kansas and Lawrenceburg to help with hand sanitiser shortages during the covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, MGP Ingredients, parent company of MGP Brands, has continued to offer financial support and other aid to the United States’ Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) Relief Fun and The Restaurant Workers Community Foundation Emergency Relief Fund.

MGP Ingredients said it was working with both organisations to help the bar and restaurant community on both a local and national scale by providing financial aid and other resources for workers who have been most affected by the coronavirus crisis as hospitality venues remain closed across the US.

MGP’s brands include George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Till American Wheat Vodka, Rossville Union Straight Rye Whiskey, Eight and Sand Blended Bourbon Whiskey and Green Hat Gin.

Multiple spirits producers have turned to making hand sanitiser during the covid-19 pandemic and donated substantial sums of money to charities helping those in need during this time. Among those that have made monetary donations are: Diageo, Beam Suntory, Campari Group and Jameson.
