Appleton Estate unveils brand refresh and new 8yo rumBy Melita Kiely
Jamaican rum Appleton Estate has bottled an eight-year-old expression to coincide with a brand relaunch, which includes a new bottle design that will be rolled out across its entire portfolio.
Appleton Eight Years Old Reserve was created by master blender Joy Spence. Bottled at 43% ABV, the rum is said to have aromas of spicy fruit and oak, followed by hints of honey, vanilla and Appleton Estate’s signature orange peel.
The new release will be available throughout the US and online from spring 2020 priced at RRP US$28.99.
Spence said: “Creating our rum is a labour of love and a true art. Jamaica has a pulse unlike anywhere else, and this vibrant energy gets channelled into everything we do, especially our world-class rums.
“We’re unveiling a fresh look for both our permanent collection of rums and our limited edition versions, while maintaining our commitment to exceptional liquid.
“With this relaunch, Appleton Estate proudly celebrates our Jamaican heritage in a thoroughly modern way. I’m also excited to introduce this new blend as we enter a new era for our brand.
“We hope that our new look and feel elevates the high-end cocktail and the sophisticated sipping experience, while continuing to spread the joy of rum, globally.”
The brand refresh aims to celebrate Appleton Estate’s commitment to high-quality rum production and its “pursuit of excellence”.
The bottle has been given a new cork closure and under this, the neck label illustrates Appleton Estate in Jamaica’s Nassau Valley. The year of the estate’s founding, 1749, is also embossed on the bottle.
