Bombay Sapphire adds flavoured Bramble gin to range

Bacardi has added a new berry-flavoured gin to its Bombay Sapphire line, said to be “transformational for the coloured gin category”.

Inspired by the classic gin cocktail, Bombay Bramble is made with blackberries and raspberries

The new Bombay Bramble gin is described as “bursting with natural berry flavours” and is said to “capture the essence of fresh blackberries and raspberries harvested at their ripest moment”.

Ivano Tonutti, Bombay Sapphire master of botanicals, said: “Launching a flavour expression was always going to take time as it’s important that the taste experience comes purely from natural botanicals and ingredients.

“This is so we can offer even the most discerning gin drinkers the right balance of fruit flavour without compromising the quality of our core product. Master distiller Dr Anne Brock and I worked closely and carefully to infuse our gin with an exclusive maceration of berries that have been harvested at their ripest moment.”

The new expression “pushes the boundaries of flavour and colour” by combining the brand’s gin with a ‘real’ fruit infusion to provide a “distinct crimson colour and natural flavour”.

It has launched in response to consumer demand for a “premium product created with real ingredients, natural flavours and colours”.

The new gin is said to challenge the “common practice of other flavoured gins on the market which often use concentrates, additional sugars and additives to flavour the liquid”.

It is made with no added sugar to allow the consumer to “control the sweetness of each drink and tailor serves to suit varying flavour palates”.

Bombay Bramble is recommended served with tonic water and a squeeze of lemon or in a Clover Club cocktail. It can also be paired with equal parts tonic water and soda water to tap into the demand for “mindful options” as the serve contains less than one unit of alcohol per 25ml.

Unique approach

Victoria Morris, global vice president of Bombay Sapphire, said: “Bombay Bramble highlights our own unique approach to the gin category.

“We have focused on creating a gin that challenges what is possible for a flavoured and coloured expression.

“The result is a sophisticated, naturally flavoured gin that answers consumer demand whilst staying true to the core credentials of our brand’s global mission to ‘Stir Creativity’ – with a balanced gin that inspires cocktail experimentation.”

The 37.5% ABV bottling is inspired by the eponymous gin-based cocktail Bramble, which was created in 1984. The new gin is said to offer an “innovative way” for drinkers to easily “evolve” the classic serve.

Bombay Bramble is available to buy from UK supermarkets Sainsbury’s and Tesco from 13 March, priced at RRP £23 (US$30). It is also available in the on-trade from Greene King venues, and more, from March onwards.

Its launch will be supported by a 360° campaign including bar activations, point-of-sale, PR, out-of-home, social and digital marketing.

Bombay Bramble is the latest product to launch from Bombay Sapphire in the last few months. The Bacardi-owned brand unveiled four 50ml gin liqueurs in January and entered the ready-to-drink category with a canned G&T last month.
