Macallan Folio 5 extends travel retail availability

Edrington has made the most recent single malt from The Macallan Archival Series available to travellers passing through London Heathrow, Dubai and Taiwan Taoyuan airports.

The Macallan Archival Series Folio 5’s availability in travel retail has been extended

The Macallan Archival Series Folio 5 has been bottled at 43% ABV and priced at RRP £250 (US$350). It is available from The Macallan Boutiques.

The fifth release in the series depicts a former advert featuring the tale of ‘Luggy Bonnet’, accompanied by the words “keep this knot firmly tied”.

The image recollects two shooters in Speyside discussing missing out on a dram of The Macallan from the Laird due to the shooter’s hat covering his ears.

The Folio Archival Series was designed to celebrate the Macallan print, press and advertising campaigns of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Polly Logan, whisky maker, The Macallan, said: “The advertising creative illustrated on Folio 5 was iconic at the time and the exceptional single malt liquid featured in this expression is fitting to how The Macallan is celebrated the world over.

“The Macallan Archival Series Folio 5 presents a rich nose of dates and fresh figs, with vanilla toffee, gentle ginger and polished oak throughout, while on the palate sweet raisin and dates mingle with warming ginger and wood spice to vanilla crème brûlée.

“The wonderful medium sweet finish with ginger and figs makes this the perfect dram to enjoy neat after a fresh day out in the beautiful Speyside hills.”

This week, news broke that Japanese spirits company Suntory had acquired a 10% in The Macallan owner Edrington for an undisclosed sum.
