Buffalo Trace to release $2,500 vintage Bourbon
Kentucky distillery Buffalo Trace is set to launch a 1994 vintage edition of its O.F.C Bourbon, which is priced at US$2,500.
The latest “rare” and “collectable” O.F.C Bourbon will launch in late November
The range is named after Buffalo Trace’s original moniker, the O.F.C Distillery. OFC stands for Old Fashioned Copper, indicating the types of fermentation vats and stills previously used to make the whiskey. The range features only “rare” vintage whiskeys that become collectable items among Bourbon fans.
Like others in the range, the 1994 vintage is presented in a wooden display box alongside a ‘provenance’ card. The bottle itself is made from crystal, featuring real copper lettering and a paper label. The back label highlights notable events from 1994, such as the premier of Pulp Fiction, Nelson Mandela’s inauguration and OJ Simpson’s police chase.
The whiskey, bottled at 45% ABV, is said to have a flavour of toasted caramel, cinnamon and oak, with a “long finish” of coffee, herbs and oak. It will start to reach US stores in late November, carrying an RRP of US$2,500.
In 2017, 200 vintage-dated O.F.C. Bourbon bottles donated by Buffalo Trace collectively raised US$1.2 million for charity.
