Powerscourt Distillery appoints German distributor

Ireland’s Powerscourt Distillery has launched its Fercullen whiskey range in Germany through importer Irish Whiskeys.de.

Powerscourt Distillery will launch its Fercullen’s single malt, single grain and blended whiskies in Germany

Irish Whiskeys.de, which was founded by Mareike Spitzer in 2011, will distribute Fercullen 14 Year Old Single Malt, 10 Year Old Single Grain and Premium Blend in Germany, with plans to extend the portfolio as new expressions are released.

Alex Peirce, chief executive of The Powerscourt Distillery, said: “We opened our distillery visitor centre on Powerscourt Estate, County Wicklow, earlier this summer.

“We have seen a tremendous level of interest from overseas visitors and are currently showcasing our whiskeys to international audiences. Fercullen represents award-winning, premium Irish whiskey released by master distiller Noel Sweeney.

“We are delighted to partner with Mareike Spitzer and to make Fercullen available to discerning Irish whiskey consumers in Germany. Our launch there represents part of our longer term plans to grow the brand at home and abroad and couldn’t be more timely, with some projections currently estimating 4.8% growth in the German market over the next three years.”

The Fercullen range takes its name from the Gaelic term ‘FeraCualann’, which is the moniker given to the ancient lands that surround the Powerscourt Estate.

Fercullen’s single malt, single grain and blended whiskies are priced at €69.90 (US$76), €48.90 (US$53) and €34.90 (US$38) respectively.
