Lakes Distillery ‘recreates’ flagship gin
By Owen BellwoodEnglish spirits producer The Lakes Distillery has “recreated” its Lakes Gin using botanicals inspired by perfumers and chefs.
The Lakes Gin is made with botanicals inspired by perfumers and chefsThe Lakes Distillery’s whisky maker, Dhavall Gandhi, has recreated The Lakes Gin using botanicals that are infused in British wheat spirit and water drawn from the Lake District National Park in north west England.
The infused spirit is then distilled in the brand’s copper pot still to produce a “classic English gin” with flavours of juniper, cracked black pepper and orange peel.
Gandhi said: “A showcase of our discerning sourcing and exacting process of elimination, we’re incredibly excited to release our classic Lakes Gin with a new and distinctive flavour.
“Using only the very best ingredients to ensure consistency and year-round freshness, juniper, coriander and angelica provide our gin’s flavour cornerstones. Orris root, cassia bark and liquorice offer complementary flavours, with orange and lemon peel enhancing our gin’s citrus notes.”
Bottled at 46% ABV, the new Lakes Gin carries a recommended retail price of £33 (US$41) and it can be bought from LakesDistillery.com.
Last month, Cumbria’s The Lakes Distillery showcased its “Sherry-led” house style with the launch of a new range of limited edition single malts.
