Keepers of the Quaich USA launched with a “tartan-draped” gala at Gotham Hall, New York, which was attended by the Duke of Argyll, the British Consul general and more than 200 Scotch whisky industry guests.
Jonathan Yusen, US chapter co-chair and William Grant & Sons president, said: “The importance of the US market to Scotch whisky cannot be understated.
“At US$2.3 billion in supplier sales and growing, it is the top market by far. Yet, we have never had a US chapter of Keepers of the Quaich – until now.”
Scottish actor Brian Cox, star of hit HBO series Succession, toasted the launch of the society via a recorded message.
Grank Coleman, chapter co-chair, Master Keeper and senior advisor to the CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council, said: “The US market has a unique role to play in keeping Scotch modern, diverse and relevant, while celebrating the unique heritage, quality and luxury of the ‘king of spirits’.”
In April this year, Keepers of the Quaich revealed the latest members who had been awarded the title of Master Keeper.
