Agatha Christie inspires Pulitzer’s Bar menu

Amsterdam hotel Pulitzer has updated the literary-themed cocktail menu in its Pulitzer’s Bar with a selection of drinks inspired by Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express.

The Nurse is made with rum, coffee, grapefruit, passion fruit and red wine

The fifth instalment in the bar’s series of menus, inspired by literary icons, follows last year’s drinks list, made in honour of Ernest Hemingway.

With its latest menu, Pulitzer’s Bar encourages guests to adopt the role of star detective Hercule Poirot as they sample cocktails inspired by characters in Agatha Christie’s classic crime novel.

The Conductor features on the menu at Pulitzer’s Bar

Cocktails on the menu are influenced by characters including the Gangster, Professor and Governess.

With each cocktail, the bar lists the means, motive and alibi for each character, which tells guests the drink’s ingredients, flavour profile and when it should be enjoyed.

Cocktails include the “crisp, aromatic, bitter, dry” Conductor, which is made with Hendrick’s Orbium Gin, extra dry vermouth, Campari and Muyu Chinotto Nero; and the “refreshing, tropical, zesty, aromatic” Nurse, made with Diplomatico Mantuano Rum, coffee, grapefruit, passion fruit and red wine.

Imbibers can also enjoy cocktails inspired by – and named after – the maid, featuring Ketel One Botanical Vodka, amaro, saffron, egg white and lemon sherbet; and the Salesman, which combines Roe & Co Whiskey, Italian vermouth, cold brew eucalyptus, mango and sumac.

Pulitzer’s Bar’s latest menu also features classic cocktails such as the Bramble and Bellini, as well as a selection of alcohol-free options, such as the Non-Alcoholic Countess, made with Seedlip Spice, Everleaf, lychee ceviche, cashew, bitters and chickpea.
