Cù Bòcan revamp includes shōchū cask-aged whisky
Highland single malt Scotch whisky Cù Bòcan is set to relaunch with a new design and range of products that will explore “innovative maturations”.
Cù Bòcan has been given a redesign and relaunched with three new expressions
The new collection will comprise three products. The first whisky, Signature, is a single malt matured in Bourbon, oloroso Sherry and North American virgin oak casks.
The second is Cù Bòcan Creation #1, which has been aged in Black Isle Brewery Imperial Stout and Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal wine casks.
Completing the trio is Cù Bòcan Creation #2, which has been aged in Japanese shōchū and European virgin oak casks.
Each no-age-statement expression has been bottled at 46% abv without chill-filtration or caramel colouring.
Stephen Bremner, managing director, said: “Consumer testing feedback reaffirmed that the Cù Bòcan spirit was exceptional with powerful potential, but were telling the wrong story.
“We’re excited this new positioning puts the product back at the heart of Cù Bòcan to welcome people into the world of lightly peated whisky and the unusual finishes that lie within.”
The redesign will be available from specialist stores from August, with Signature priced at RRP £45 (US$55) per 700ml, and Creation #1 and #2 priced at RRP £60 (US$73) per 700ml.
Earlier this year, the legislation regarding how Scotch whisky is made was amended to increase the variety of casks permitted for maturation.
