Bruichladdich adds to Barley Exploration series
Islay distillery Bruichladdich has released three single malt vintages as part of its Barley Exploration series.
The three new Bruichladdich vintages will be available from specialist whisky retailers
The three expressions are: Bruichladdich The Organic 2010, Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2010 and Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011.
Bruichladdich The Organic 2010 is made from organic barley grown and harvested at Mid Coul Farms in 2009, and distilled in 2010.
The whisky was matured in ex-Bourbon American oak casks for a minimum of eight years. It has been bottled at 50% abv, without chill-filtration or caramel colouring.
It is available to purchase from specialist whisky retailers, priced at RRP £75 (US$91).
Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2010 was distilled from bere barley grown on Orkney in 2009, and used in distillation in 2010.
The liquid was matured in ex-Bourbon American oak casks for at least eight years before being bottled at 50% abv, without chill-filtration and caramel colouring.
It will also be available to buy from specialist whisky stores for an RRP of £75 (US$91).
Completing the trio is Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011, which was distilled from Islay-grown barley raised in 2010 for a 2011 distillation.
This particular expression was aged for 75% of the time in ex-Bourbon American oak casks, and 25% in ex-wine European oak casks. Total maturation lasted for six years.
Non-chill-filtered, the single malt has been bottled without caramel colouring at 50% abv. It is available from specialist whisky shops for an RRP of £55 (US$67).
