Teeling unveils chinkapin cask-finished whiskey

Irish whiskey maker Teeling has revealed a new distillery-exclusive bottling that has been finished in chinkapin virgin white oak casks.

Teeling’s latest distillery-exclusive whiskey has been finished in chinkapin virgin white oak casks

Dublin-based Teeling sourced the chinkapin virgin white oak casks from Eastern and Central North America.

The whiskey has been bottled at 46% abv and is said to have aromas of toffee and butterscotch on the nose, leading to ripe dates, liquorice and wood spices on the palate. The finish is said to offer flavours of black pepper and a “lingering hint” of liquorice.

The distillery-exclusive is available to buy from the Teeling Distillery Gift Shop for €60 (US$67), with a personalised version available for €65 (US$72).

Earlier this month, the distillery released its first travel retail-exclusive whiskey – a 12-year-old matured in ex-Cognac casks.

In June this year, Teeling Whiskey Distillery reported its visitor centre had generated almost €13 million (US$14.7m) in revenue since opening its doors four yeas ago. It has also been awarded a €200,000 (US$226,390) grant to develop its facilities.
