Non-alcoholic ‘spirit’ Feragaia launches in UK

As the low- and no-alcohol trend continues its unstoppable rise, a new Scottish zero-abv ‘spirit’ made from “land and sea botanicals” has launched in the UK.

The new product, called Feragaia, is distilled, blended and bottled in the Scottish Lowlands. Its name means ‘wild earth’, with Fera in Latin meaning ‘wild’ and ‘Gaia’ in Greek mythology translating to ‘earth’.

The alcohol-free ‘spirit’ is the brainchild of Jamie Wild and Bill Garnock, who together have more than a decade of experience in the global spirits market.

“Growing up in the shadow of the world’s biggest distillers, we were inspired to bring new-age innovation to age-old process,” said Garnock.

Feragaia contains 14 botanicals including seaweed, bay leaf and chamomile, and is hand-blended and cut with Scottish water. While it is described as a ‘spirit’, Feragaia does not contain alcohol during any part of its production process.

Amber in colour, the expression is described as having a “taste of clean complexity” and a “warming finish”. It is recommended served on the rocks or with light tonic water.

Feragaia said that it follows the long-term mission to ‘Keep Earth Wild’. As part of this goal, its bottle and cap are both 100% recyclable, all botanicals are composted post-distillation and botanicals are sourced locally, where possible.

Feragaia is available at Mac & Wild’s London restaurants in Fitzrovia and Devonshire Square. It has an RRP of £23.99 (US$29.20) per 500ml.
