Gin distilled on top of Snowdon auctions for £1,085
A gin distilled at the top of Mount Snowdon in Wales has sold for £1,085 (US$1,362) at auction, with the proceeds set to go to charity.

Created by Aber Falls Whisky Distillery, Summit Gin: Mountaineers Cut was created by John Buchanan, distiller at Aber Falls, who used a one-litre pot still to create the expression on the mountain’s highest peak – 1,085 metres above sea level.
Botanicals used in the gin include sloe berries and heather, which the distillers foraged as they climbed. Three bottles of gin in total were created, but the remaining two will not be made available to the public.
Rogan Chester, from Porthmadog in Wales, placed the winning bid on the gin. The proceeds will go to the Wales Air Ambulance.
He said: “It’s not my usual thing to spend this much money on a rare bottle of alcohol but I was fortunate to have a little win on the Grand National and was looking for an investment.
“To be the owner of the most expensive bottle of Welsh gin, and one of the most expensive in the UK, is a surreal feeling, but I’m a proud Welshman and hopefully it will be worth a bit more in the future.”
Earlier this year, Aber Falls revealed it has started producing a rye whiskey – thought to be a first for Wales.
