Death & Co reopens with updated menu

New York speakeasy Death & Co has reopened following its first “refresh” since launching in 2006 and has unveiled a new summer cocktail menu.

The Lady Stardust is made with Tequila, Champagne, amaro Zucca and strawberry

The East Village cocktail bar closed on 15 July for “a bit of a facelift”, the first time the team have done “any updates on the interior” since Death & Co opened 13 years ago.

After closing for 10 days, a “refreshed” Death & Co New York opened its doors boasting a new cocktail and food menu while retaining the bar’s signature aesthetic.

The venue’s latest menu includes 32 drinks divided between six categories, which are named Rich & Comforting, Light & Playful, Fresh & Lively, Elegant & Timeless, Boozy & Honest and Bright & Confident.

In the Light & Playful section drinkers will find the Lady Stardust, made with Tequila, Champagne, amaro Zucca and strawberry; while the Fresh & Lively section is home to cocktails including the Gatekeeper, which combines gin, Cap Corse Quina, celery, apple eau de vie and sparkling wine.

The award-winning bar, which opened a Denver outpost last year, has also refreshed its food menu to include dishes such as crispy mikate boa buns, tempura green beans and fried chicken.
