Cruzan Watermelon Rum to help hurricane relief efforts
Beam Suntory has released a watermelon-flavoured expression of Cruzan Rum, with US$1 from every case sold earmarked to help relief efforts following 2017’s hurricanes Maria and Irma.
Cruzan Watermelon rum has been bottled at 21% abv
The limited edition expression is said to combine the “sweetness of a fresh cut, juicy watermelon” with a hint of “slightly tart watermelon rind”.
Last year, Cruzan Rum introduced the Island Spirit Fund to provide relief for hurricane victims and has so far raised US$1.6 million through donations, the brand’s case-matching programme and case-matching donation commitments from its distributor partners.
Gary Nelthropp, Cruzan master distiller, said: “We are excited to release Cruzan Watermelon Rum, as this new expression demonstrates our dedication to producing high quality and innovative flavoured rums.
“This new expression truly captures the spirit of summer and the Island of St Croix for all to enjoy at their next gathering.”
Cruzan Watermelon Rum is available now in the US priced at US$11.99 per 750ml bottle. It has an abv of 21%.
