George Dickel debuts bottled-in-bond whiskey

Diageo has released a limited edition 13-year-old bottled-in-bond expression under its George Dickel Tennessee whiskey brand.

George Dickel Bottled in Bond has an abv of 50%

George Dickel Bottled in Bond has been created in accordance with the 1897 act, which requires whiskey to be produced by one distillery within a six-month ‘season’.

The product must also be aged for at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse at 100 proof (50% abv).

The whiskey is the first release from Nicole Austin, general manager and distiller at George Dickel maker Cascade Hollow Distilling Co, who joined the distillery in 2018.

It is described as offering a “bold and assertive profile” with notes of light honey, tropical fruit, warm spices, and a touch of leather.

“We wanted George Dickel Bottled in Bond to be rooted in authenticity, quality and truth, reflective of the values we feel are most important when making Tennessee’s finest whiskey,” said Austin.

“The aged whiskey stocks we have access to here at Cascade Hollow are absolutely beautiful, and it’s important to me that we create whiskey that’s sure to be a great value for the quality you’re getting.”

The expression is recommended served neat, on the rocks or in an Old Fashioned or Manhattan cocktail.

George Dickel Bottled in Bond is available from the distillery’s bottle shop from tomorrow (17 May) and will roll out to retailers across the US later this month. It has an RRP of US$35.99.

In May last year, Diageo launched a new “spicy” expression under the George Dickel brand, finished in barrels used to age Tabasco peppers.
