George Dickel unveils Tabasco-finished whiskey
Diageo has launched a new “spicy” expression under its George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey brand, finished in barrels used to age Tabasco peppers.
George Dickel Tabasco Brand Barrel Finish is the result of a collaboration between Diageo and Tabasco maker Mcllhenny Company
George Dickel Tabasco Brand Barrel Finish has been aged for 30 days in the barrels, which previously aged Tabasco peppers for three years, imparting a spicy flavour.
The expression has been created in collaboration with Louisiana-based McIlhenny Company, producer of the Tabasco hot sauce.
The expression is recommended served neat with celery salt on the rim, or with pickle juice and an ice chaser.
“George Dickel Tennessee Whisky and Tabasco are two of the most iconic brands the South has to offer for a reason – the craftsmanship that goes into creating these products is the real deal,” said Jeff Parrott, director of American whiskey development at Diageo.
“Both brands have such a rich history, and we’re proud to collaborate with our friends at McIlhenny Company to marry their unique flavour with our quality Tennessee whisky.”
Bottled at 35% abv, George Dickel Tabasco Brand Barrel Finish has an RRP of US$24.99 for a 750ml bottle and is also available in 50ml and one-litre format. The expression is available from May in the US.
