Louisville-based Copper & Kings has expanded its Destillaré range of brandy-based liqueurs with the launch of chocolate- and coffee-flavoured bottlings.

Copper & Kings has added Destillaré Café and Destillaré Chocolat to its brandy-based liqueur range

Copper & Kings’ Destillaré Café and Destillaré Chocolat releases join its Orange Curaçao and Pomegranate liqueurs.

Both expressions are made with aged American brandy as the base. To make Destillaré Café, Copper & Kings uses certified fair trade cold brew coffee and adds it to the aged brandy in the barrel. The liquid then marries for six to nine months before Madagascan vanilla beans, cardamom pods and coffee beans are added.

For the chocolate-flavoured release, a similar process is used but cocoa nibs are added to mature brandy before it ages for six to nine months. The two liqueurs are said to be “very balanced, very smooth, highly aromatic, and viscous without being syrupy and sticky”.

Copper & Kings founder, Joe Heron, said: “Destillaré’s mission is to provide bartenders with exceptional tools to build the most delicious, inventive cocktails that they possibly can.

“Bartenders have thirsty imaginations, and we see them as the most inventive alchemists and magicians. Cordials are very exciting for us, not only for the creative palette they provide, but that for a category of such enormous size, there’s not been a lot of new thinking and innovation, and bartenders are looking for tools to expand their own repertoires.”

Destillaré Café is recommended for the creation of a “rich” Espresso Martini, while Destillaré Chocolat can be used to elevate a Brandy Alexander or Sidecar cocktail.

Both expressions are bottled at 45% abv and carry a recommended retail price of US$35 per 750ml.
