Boë Gin sales grow 672% to £8.5m in one year

Scottish brand Boë Gin has reported sales revenue of £8.5 million (US$10.7m) in the 12 months to February 2019, up from £1.1m (US$1.4m) the previous year.

The Boë Gin range consists of three gins and three gin liqueurs

Produced by Stirling-based Stiffy’s Shots, Boë Gin attributed the growth to UK listings in the on- and off-trade.

As of October 2018, Boë Gin secured a listing with UK supermarket Morrisons and is now available in more than 11,000 cocktails bars, restaurants and pubs across the country.

In February 2019, the company launched Boë Passion, a full-strength passion fruit-flavoured gin.

According to Alantra’s annual ranking of the UK’s fastest-growing privately owned food and drink companies, Boë Violet has the highest rate of sale of any premium flavoured gin. The flavoured gin category accounts for 30% of the total gin sector in the off-trade.

The Scottish firm also attributed the sales growth to investment in its team. In 2017, Boë Gin had one part-time sales person in England, with the team growing to seven full-time staff based across the country. In addition, Boë Gin has invested in marketing, PR, social media, event sponsorship and sampling.

The Boë Gin range includes its classic Scottish gin and two flavoured gins – Boë Passion and Boë Violet – plus three gin-based liqueurs: Peach and Hibiscus, Scottish Bramble, and Spiced Orange.

Boë Gin is led by directors Andrew Richardson, Carlo Valente and Graham Coull.

Richardson said: “The success we’ve experienced this year is a huge achievement. We have expanded very rapidly from having a focus on Scotland, to Boë being enjoyed across the UK and beyond.

“Though we may be a relatively small company, our ambitions are big, and we pride ourselves on our innovation.

“We’ve been at the forefront of flavoured gin in the UK and are also exporting Boë Violet and Boë Passion to Spain.

“There are many opportunities in the UK and internationally to grow the business much further.”
