Talisker tasting launches on Amazon Alexa
Diageo has created a new voice-activated Amazon Alexa skill under its Talisker single malt brand to encourage whisky tastings at home.
The Talisker Tasting Experience can lead drinkers on a tasting of the Talisker portfolio
The Talisker Tasting Experience is a voice-activated skill that can be downloaded onto Alexa-enabled devices. The skill has been created to “make the heritage of Scotch more accessible”.
Diageo said it has identified that voice is “a great way to enhance the whisky tasting experience”, as it allows consumers to create a whisky tasting environment similar to those they may experience at a bar or distillery.
The Amazon Alexa skill can lead tastings of Talisker’s Skye, Storm and 10 Year Old expressions, educating consumers on how to taste Scotch and get to know flavours in the Talisker range.
The Talisker Tasting Experience also invites the taster to ask questions about the story behind the whisky, or flavours of Scotch they may like to try in the future.
Benjamin Lickfett, head of technology and innovation at Diageo, said: “Talisker is a brand with an extremely rich heritage, produced by the sea on the Isle of Skye. We were looking to bring elements of this location and the fantastic tasting tours at the Talisker Distillery into people’s homes.
“Voice is the perfect technology to do just this and provide an enhanced brand experience by putting the consumer, product and brand at the centre of a tasting, in a completely seamless and non-intrusive way.
“Through the Talisker Tasting Experience Skill we’re able to bring the history and traditions associated with Scotch to a new generation of drinkers.”
Last year, Diageo launched The Bar, a skill for Amazon’s Echo Show device that teaches drinks fans a number of mixology techniques.
