London bar stocks ‘world’s most expensive’ Cognac
London-based M Restaurant Group is set to become the first on-trade venue to list Rome de Bellegarde 1894, said to be the most expensive Cognac in the world.
Earlier this year, a measure of Rome de Bellegarde sold for £10,014 (US$12,871)
The limited edition Rome de Bellegarde was discovered in the cellars of Cognac house Jean Filloux by fifth-generation cellar master Pascal Filloux, and is believed to be the first blend created by Jean Filloux in 1894.
The Cognac, which is a blend of four eaux-de-vie aged for more than 70 years, entered into the Guinness Book of World Records earlier this year for boasting the most expensive 40ml measure ever bought at £10,014 (US$12,871).
