AC/DC takes Thunderstruck Tequila to travel retail
Luxembourg-based Amber Beverage Group and rock band AC/DC are expanding availability of their Thunderstruck Tequila to include travel retail.
The AC/DC Thunderstruck Tequila range – named after the band’s song Thunderstruck – comprises blanco and reposado expressions, which both launched in travel retail at the beginning of November in Gebr Heinemann Travel Free border shops across Europe, including the Czech Republic, Croatia and Slovenia.
It has also been listed in airports including Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Berlin, Baku and Bucharest.
The travel retail expansion follows the initial launch of the brand in the US in 2016.
Both bottled at 40% abv, the AC/DC Thunderstruck Tequila sits alongside Amber Beverage Group’s Rooster Rojo and Fabrica de Tequilos Finos Tequila brands.
Mantas Zlatkus, global brand director at Amber Beverage Group, said: “This is the only Tequila endorsed by major rock stars, possibly that is the reason why we are feeling such responsibility towards the brand, our partners AC/DC and, of course, the consumers.
“The blanco version has intense sweet notes of cooked agave, followed by a spicy white peppery punch. It is silky and delicate, leaving on the palate a sachet of spices.
“The reposado has a full body and intense agave flavour. It is aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two months, which gives this Tequila its natural colour and rich flavour.”
Earlier this month, Amber Beverage Group acquired a minority stake in Russian spirits producer Permalko, thought to be one of the oldest distilleries in Russia.
