Cape Town hotel launches gin blending experience
By Owen BellwoodThe Radisson Red hotel in Cape Town has launched the Gin Blending Bar within its OUIBar + KTCHN, offering guests the chance to create their own botanical blends.
Gin fans will be able to blend botanicals at the Radisson Red in Cape Town
At the blending bar, guests will find a number of individually distilled botanicals that can be mixed together to create a personally-tailored gin expression.
Visitors will then be able to use their bespoke gin to craft G&Ts using a selection of garnishes and the hotel’s own tonic water.
Guests at the hotel will be able to choose from flavours such as juniper, citrus, naartjie, grapefruit, nutmeg, clove, cardamom, cinnamon, fynbos, honeybush, sage, thyme, rose pelargonium and lavender.
The hotel has also created two gin expressions of its own, called Khoi Cloud and Skinny Dip, which guests can sample as part of a tasting experience that costs R250 (US$17) per person.
Gin fans now have a number of opportunities to create their own spirit, including at the home of Portobello Road Gin and the Colwith Farm Distillery.
