Colwith Farm launches gin making masterclass

Family-owned Cornish spirits producer Colwith Farm Distillery has launched its gin making masterclass.

In the masterclass, gin fans can select their botanicals and produce a bespoke expression

The distillery, which was founded in 2014, became the region’s “first single estate distillery” when it opened its doors earlier this year.

Colwith Farm’s gin making masterclass offers gin fans the chance to distil their own spirit at the site in Lanlivery, Cornwall.

Steve Dustow, co-founder of Colwith Farm Distillery, said: “Education is a big part of the Colwith Farm Distillery experience. We built the distillery and visitor centre with this in mind.

“A key element for us is explaining to people how premium spirits are produced, the plough-to-bottle way. The ultimate expression of this is involving visitors in selecting the botanicals and going through the distillation process themselves.”

The gin making masterclass will include learning about the Colwith Farm history, a tour of the production area followed by a tasting and hands-on distilling session in the bar. The day will finish with bottling and labelling each participants own gin.

Colwith Farm Distillery is owned and operated by fifth-generation farming brothers, Steve and Chris Dustow. The distillery opened for guided tours last month, these include a chance to learn how potatoes grown on the family farm are turned into vodka and gin.
